Period Drama Challege - March Tag Questions

Wow, we're answering the March tag questions already! I'm astounded how time is flying! You can read the March link-ups HERE. Lots of terrific dramas this month, possibly some you haven't watched! ❤

1. What period dramas did you view in March?

Okaaaaaay, let me think. I watched David Copperfield and Nanny McPhee but haven't reviewed them yet (will definitely review the first). Also watched Anna Karenina and Crimson Peak with Charity, both of which I also intend to review although they'll be quite challenging just because of content issues. And I reviewed The Imitation Game and When Calls the Heart.

2. What is your favorite period drama soundtrack?

Oh boy, I'm so bad about remembering soundtracks. Truly. Can I choose the Jane Eyre musical that only ran on Broadway for 6 months? LOVE that soundtrack! In fact, I should probably review it.

3. If you could attend a ball in a Jane Austen story what would be the color of your ballgown and who would you dance with?

You'll love this. I actually did attend a Jane Austen ball since I was Charlotte Lucas in a theater production of Pride and Prejudice. My gown was a shimmering cream silk (LOVED IT) and I danced with a charming young man who also played Colonel Fitzwilliam (although not in this scene). He was about 8 years younger than myself, but he was quite nice and and an elegant dance partner. The above photo is, in fact, myself!

4. Do you prefer watching period dramas by yourself or with friends/family? Why?

Depends on what it is. Sometimes yes and sometimes no. Right now my family is watching Wanted Dead or Alive with Steve McQueen (tv series) and LOVING it. But I did watch David Copperfield on my own. It really does depend on what it is.

5. What period dramas are you looking forward to viewing in April 2016?

I'm reading Wuthering Heights over on Bookshelves and Daydreams right now, so I'm really salivating to watch the 1939 version with Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon. I'll be watching more of Wanted Dead or Alive and may actually decide to finish Brideshead Revisited with Anthony Andrews and Jeremy Irons (it's just so loooooooooooooong)!

Period Drama Challenge February Tag Questions!

It's February already and I've actually reviewed 4 movies for this challenge. I didn't know I had it in me. The February link-up list and tag questions is now posted here on Miss Laurie's blog, Old Fashioned Charm. Head on over there and see what everyone else has watched and reviewed through the month of February.

1. What period dramas did you view in February?

I only watched and reviewed 2 and neither of them turned out to be on my original list! How very bizarre! But anyway, I watched Ladyhawke (1985) which is one of my favorite movies of all time and then Risen (2016), which is a newer favorite movie. Both are terrific, as my reviews testify.

2. What is your favorite period drama musical?

Up until recently I would have said Hello, Dolly! (1969) with Barbra Streisand and Walter Matthau, but I've since discovered the 2003 version of The Music Man with Kristin Chenoweth and Matthew Broderick, which has now one-upped my one-time favorite!

3. If you could order up an adaptation of your favorite classic book, what would it be and who would star?

I LOVE The Princess and the Goblin by George Macdonald. Just love it. And I would give almost anything to see it in live action. They did make an animated movie back in 1991, but I'm afraid it was pretty terrible, something I didn't realize until I grew up. Since the lead characters are children, I'm not sure who I would want to cast, but I do know I would love Judi Dench as Irene's nurse and possibly Helen Mirren as her great-great-great-great grandmother (insert a few more greats).

4. If you could be a famous royal from history, who would you be and why?

Probably Queen Victoria because she actually lived a long and fairly happy life. I have a biography of her at home right now, actually, that I'm quite interested in reading.

5. What period dramas are you looking forward to viewing in March 2016?

Okay, so my list of movies to review is now in constant flux for this challenge. I've been listening to the Audible audio book of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn performed BRILLIANTLY by Elijah Wood and so now I'm fighting the urge to watch The Adventures of Huck Finn movie from 1993 that also starred a very young, very adorable Elijah Wood in the leading role.

So the above movie definitely, and then anything else that might happen to come my way.
