I haven't been nominated for the Sunshine Blogger award in forever! I'm deeply touched that Rachel at Hamlette's Soliloquy nominated me. Thank you very much. ❤

2. Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you.

3. Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.

4. List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.

The Sunshine Blogger Award Questions Assigned to Me

1) What's something good that's happened to you this year?

I finally figured out a knitted shawl pattern that has been a thorn in my side for at least 5 years. I've had more than 2 dozen false starts over the years that had me ripping the pattern out and trying again, on repeat, until I would shove it into the closet to be dragged out again a year later. But this time I've got it. I'm now 3/4 of the way through the shawl and feeling an immense sense of pride and accomplishment.

2) What was your favorite movie when you were ten years old?

Hmm, it might have been All Dogs Go to Heaven or The Little Mermaid. I was fairly obsessed with both of them. It's funny watching All Dogs Go to Heaven now because it is so NOT politically correct and I love that aspect of it. I don't think it could be made now, at least, not with the same raw intensity.

3) Have you ever discovered you now like a movie or book that you used to dislike?

Yes, in fact! I hated The 10th Kingdom miniseries the first time I watched it. I'm not sure if Wolf drove me crazy or if I just couldn't stand Virginia's father, Tony. Either way, I didn't care for it at all. But I tried it again, a year later, and liked it better, although I didn't love it. And then I tried it again probably a year or two after that and fell in love with it completely. That rarely happens to me where my preference changes from dislike to like, so The 10th Kingdom is definitely an anomaly.

4) How long have you been blogging?

I've been on blogger for 11 years, but I was on Livejournal before that for maybe 5 years so I've probably been blogging for somewhere between 15 and 16 years.

5) What's your favorite joke?

I actually don't know any jokes, or at least, not off the top of my head. I'm more of a comedy routine kinda gal like in I Love Lucy than remembering jokes someone tells me. The "Slowly I Turned" routine from I Love Lucy is HILARIOUS.

6) What's a movie or book that people are surprised to learn you enjoy?

I love Stephen King's The Shining and Doctor Sleep books. They're psychologically enthralling and would surprise quite a lot of people if they knew I not only read them but love them. One person was shockingly surprised that I had ever picked up a Stephen King book so I don't often mention him, but he's a good writer and I value that. I appreciate King's honesty about alcoholism and addiction so while they're not easy reads and I don't recommend them to most people, at the same time, they are important books and I'm glad he wrote them.

7) Do you play croquet?

Yes, I love croquet. It's such a fun game, and I'm pretty good at it. I dream of someday owning a croquet set where the mallets look like flamingoes and the balls look like hedgehogs.

8) How many blog posts have you published?

312 on blogger give or take a few since I removed some and then probably between 50 and 100 on Livejournal.

9) What's the next book you plan to read?

I don't really plan which books to read, they sort of just jump me. But I have The Fault in Our Stars in my bookcase along with All the Impossible Things so possibly one of those. At the moment I'm re-reading The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood and am about 45 pages in. It's been at least 15 years since the first time I read it!

10) What's the next movie you plan to watch?

I just finished reading Five Feet Apart and now I'm planning to rewatch the movie with Cole Sprouse. I really loved the movie the first time I saw it, but that's mostly because Cole Sprouse sells the male lead. I'm curious to watch it again and see if it's as good as my heart wants me to believe.

11) Do you want to build a snowman?

Ironically, we just had snow on the 8th and 9th (the earliest recorded snowfall in Colorado recorded history). I did not build a snowman because there wasn't enough, but still, it would have been fun.

  1. Thanks for nominating me! You’re questions are fun!

I loved All Dogs Go to Heaven when I was a kid. It’s a total acid trip, but I still love it.

    1. I know, right! It's such a crazy movie. In hindsight, I'm sort of surprised my parents didn't object. But they never did!

  3. Hey, thanks for nominating me! I'm going to have fun with those questions.

The first time I saw All Dogs go to Heaven I don't remember how old I was, but I cried so much. For many years my mom wouldn't let my sisters and I watch it because I got so upset. Now, I can handle it, but it's been ages!

    1. I definitely remember being a little traumatized the first time I watched All Dogs Go to Heaven. I was probably 5 or 6 at the time, so it makes sense. It's definitely a scary movie for really young ones!

Yeah, as soon as September hit, I was so ready for autumn and changing up my blog look! I love Halloween so it came early this year!
