So long as they are magnificently crafted heroines, I don't care if there is only 1 heroine to 15 heroes.

Charity, I'm ecstatic that Galadriel is in The Hobbit! It was so exciting to see her. She gave Carissa (Regency Woman)https://www.blogger.com/profile/16052175780167961631noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6506048107929554518.post-70038946295284060452013-01-16T22:07:51.989-07:002013-01-16T22:07:51.989-07:00I am always saddened when someone criticizes Tolki...I am always saddened when someone criticizes Tolkien for his lack of women because, though the men may outnumber the women, the women portrayed are all strong and inspiring individuals. The Silmarillion contains some even more amazing women. Luthien, for example, faces the original Dark Lord Morgoth. And Galadriel has a pretty good backstory herself--she was technically part of a rebellion Petrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13155924019089937579noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6506048107929554518.post-67103242311647470522013-01-10T07:06:03.082-07:002013-01-10T07:06:03.082-07:00There's been a fuss about Galadriel because Ph...There's been a fuss about Galadriel because Philippa Boyd said they brought her into the Hobbit due to its lack of female presence. Well, I say good for them -- I love Galadriel, and I think she ads wonderful things to their extended plot. True, there are no women in The Hobbit -- but this film isn't just about that story, is it? =)Charityhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15928012771461206094noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6506048107929554518.post-30631452834387888812013-01-09T22:41:24.111-07:002013-01-09T22:41:24.111-07:00Excellent post! Also, as you said, Tolkien's female characters are good ones. Surely, to people who really care, that is much more important than "strength in numbers."Marianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01693636355638596302noreply@blogger.com
